A Wisconsin Rapids foundry was heavily damaged by fire Monday.
Multiple departments responded to the blaze at Northern Steel Castings after the fire was reported shortly after 6 a.m. Fire departments from Wisconsin Rapids, Rudolph, Port Edwards and Stevens Point were joined by emergency responders from United Medical.
Wisconsin Rapids Fire Chief Dave Kerkman said the blaze is still under investigation.

“I have not seen estimations of the cost of damage. One section of the building had flames coming through the roof so the roof was extensively damaged and in some cases the roof is completely gone,” Kerkman said.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no one was hurt.
Late Monday afternoon, crews were still on the scene.
Northern Steel Castings employs about 100 people at two plants in Wisconsin Rapids. Company officials did not respond to requests for comment.
