Gov. Scott Walker is calling for the U.S. House to vote on the Republican plan to overhaul the national health care law.
Walker said Friday morning on Twitter that “House members need to vote to repeal Obamacare today.” He said this is the chance to “move process forward” to get rid of the current law, which he said is “collapsing.”
Walker is chairman of the Republican Governors Association and has been careful not to take a firm position on the bill that’s faced bipartisan opposition. Walker has repeatedly called it a first step that needs changes.

Walker told reporters in Milwaukee that it’s important to start the process of putting in a new health care plan.
“Whether it’s today, or sometime in the coming days, I think they’ll ultimately pass something,” Walker said. “It’s one where it’s going to take some time and effort and an understanding from members of the House that this is not the final bill, but this is part of the process that needs to go forward.”
Walker is close political allies with Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, who is trying to get the bill passed, along with President Donald Trump.
The House of Representatives is expected to vote on the proposed health care bill at late Friday afternoon.
