The speaker of the state Assembly expects lawmakers to take up legislation that addresses mental health in Wisconsin this session.
Republican Robin Vos is hoping to continue efforts with a task force that focuses on the issue. Speaking at a Wisconsin Health News luncheon in Madison, Vos said after the budget’s done, lawmakers could consider bills on mental health.
“Access to care is critical,” said Vos. “If you can catch things earlier they’re a lot cheaper for the state, they’re a lot cheaper for the system and they’re better for the human being that’s involved more than anything.”
