Zorba’s Vanilla Extract

  • 5 Vanilla beans*
  • 4 oz Vodka (a step or two below top shelf)
  1. Get a bottle that is 4 to 6 oz.
  2. Buy Vanilla beans (my favorite source is Olive Nation – Inexpensive beans from Madagascar. They are the best.)
  3. Slit the beans lengthwise leaving about ¼ inch at the top and bottom so that the bean does not slit wide open.
  4. Put in 5 beans for every 4 oz of vodka.
  5. Fill the bottle with vodka to cover the bean completely.
  6. Store in a cabinet for 2 months. This will make the most vanilla vanilla that you have ever tasted.
