Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tony Evers is launching a new ad ripping Republican Gov. Scott Walker as the most anti-education governor Wisconsin has ever seen.
Evers, the state schools superintendent, announced the ad on Friday. The spot will air statewide.
The ad features Evers interacting with children at a picnic table and a playground. He said Walker doesn’t understand educating children and building a skilled workforce is essential to strengthening the middle class. He said that’s why Walker has been the most anti-education governor that Wisconsin has ever seen.

Evers has emerged as the front-runner in an eight-candidate Democratic gubernatorial field. Voters will choose the nominee in an Aug. 14 primary.
Evers and Walker both have been working to portray themselves as pro-education.
State GOP spokesman Alec Zimmerman said Evers is playing politics with education, noting Evers called the current state budget that Walker signed “pro-kid.”
