WGTD—Gateway Technical College’s public radio station—turns 50 this month. To celebrate, the station is holding a coffee-and-kringle open house Friday, December 12th.
Listeners will have a chance to tour the station, meet the staff, interaction with other listeners, pick up a program guide and record brief birthday greetings that’ll air in the coming weeks, according to station manager David Cole. In addition, Cole wants to drum up interest in forming a WGTD listener ‘ambassadors’ group that’ll interact with other listeners and staff tables and tents at various community events in 2026 in order to promote the radio station’s services.
The drop-in reception in the WGTD studios in the Inspire Center on Gateway’s Kenosha campus will run from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Coffee will be provided by East View Coffee in Kenosha. The kringle will come from O & H Danish Bakery in Racine. Both East View and O & H support WGTD.
