Evergreen Theater in Green Bay is opening their 40th season with a production or Radio Plays: War of the Worlds and Dracula.
This captivating radio series created, and hosted by, Orson Welles featured live radio dramas performed by Welles’s Mercury Theatre. Travel back to 1938 and the CBS studios to hear their very first, and their most infamous, radio broadcasts.
The War of the Worlds:
The most famous radio play of all time. Based on the novel by H. G. Wells, the original broadcast had many listeners convinced an actual alien invasion was taking place. Evergreen will present the original 1938 script.
Dracula:
Based on the classic horror story by Bram Stoker. Follow Johnathan Harker as he travels to Transylvania and discovers an ancient Vampire, Dracula, plans to move to, and terrorize, England. Upon arriving in London, Dracula is hunted down by a group of vampire hunters.
