Join the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra for two glorious masterworks from the late-Romantic era and a world premiere! Wisconsin-born American composer Daron Hagen’s extraordinary new orchestration of Johannes Brahms’ early Piano Quintet, which then became a Sonata for Two Pianos, fulfills Clara Schumann’s unfulfilled desire that her friend turn his quintet into a Symphony; the “Symphony No.0”, here in its first performance, fulfills the last of the LSO’s 125th Anniversary commissions. Another new friend of the La Crosse Symphony, violin virtuoso Yevgeny Kutik — still well-remembered for his incredible performance of the Korngold Violin Concerto — returns for what will be an equally amazing rendition of the Concerto of Jean Sibelius, Finland’s greatest son.
