The Johns are a power trio utilizing driving melodies, rock solid rhythms and tasteful dynamics with a bit of a groove. Ruby John and John Warstler also perform as a duo. The two of them recently played at the University of Chicago Folk Festival, the Ten Pound Fiddle concert series in East Lansing, the Indiana Fiddlers’ Gathering and the Emerald Isle Feile, Beaver Island. The trio played at the Whitewater Whirl Dance weekend in West Virginia this past May and are playing the Centennial Stage at the Wheatland Traditional Music Festival this September.

Ruby is an Odawa Fiddler who performs hard-driving fiddle tunes that she has learned from her mentors ranging through Old-Time, Metis, Irish and Canadian. Ruby also has a wonderful voice which has allowed The Johns to expand their venues beyond contra dances. Budd Greenman is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist. Budd has a unique gift for writing tunes. The Johns perform several of Budd’s tunes and they are among their best dance tunes. John plays guitar and provides a rhythmic solid foundation for the two younger members so they can work their magic.
This will be a great event at a great location (handicap accessible).
