The FBI has been asked to help investigate two threats against a western Wisconsin school district in two weeks.
On April 27, the Menomonie School District in Dunn County received a fax referencing a suicide bombing. On May 4, a threatening call said someone was going to a school to cause harm to students. In both cases, schools were put on lockdown.
“It is quite frustrating,” said school district administrator Joe Zydowski. “When we deal with threats, resources that would typically be used for instruction or school leadership have to be reallocated towards dealing with the threat.”

Zydowski said threats against schools are nothing new but the district isn’t taking any chances with student safety.
“It does seem like the type of threats have changed and also the frequency that we’ve been receiving threats recently has increased. We are hoping, though, that by working with law enforcement we’ll be able to curb this as soon as possible,” said Zydowski.
The Menomonie Police Department has called on the FBI to offer their resources to the investigation. No motives or suspects have been named.
In December, Menomonie schools were closed after a threatening graffiti message was found in a school building.
