A semitrailer filled with water will make its way from Milwaukee to Flint, Michigan this weekend to help that city deal with lead-contaminated drinking water.
The National Pan-Hellenic Council is the governing body for the nation’s historically black fraternities and sororities. The Milwaukee chapter of the organization is filling an entire semi with water bottles this weekend and delivering it to Flint.
“It’s important for us to give back, but also support our communities at large — whether they’re in the city of Milwaukee or in the Flint, Michigan area,” said Jermaine Murray, a member of the Milwaukee chapter.

Murray said that so far, they’ve collected more than a thousand cases of water.
“We’re definitely close to almost halfway — if not exceeding halfway — of our goal, and we’re still exceeding donations at this time,” said Murray.
Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday at the Complete Warehouse in West Allis. Details can be found online at the NPHC of Milwaukee Facebook page.
