A central Wisconsin food company has entered into bankruptcy proceedings, but the news isn’t expected to be all bad for its hundreds of employees.
Golden County Foods, which makes cheese-based and breaded frozen appetizers at two locations in Plover, will have to terminate all 432 of its full-time employees as part of the bankruptcy agreement. However, most of those workers will probably be immediately rehired by the new owner of the company, Monogram Appetizers, which says it wants to continue operations.
The deal still has to be approved by a bankruptcy judge, and could be changed if Golden County Foods gets a higher bid.
