The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior will be hosting an event in honor of World War I.

Briana Fiandt with the Bong Center said they’re hosting this event to mark the one hundred year anniversary of the U.S. entering World War I. Fiandt said featured speaker and Vietnam vet Clyde Annala will present his research on what life was like in the Twin Ports during the war.

“I think it is always important to remember our veterans and honor what they have done,” she said. “I mean we wouldn’t be here today without their sacrifices. So I think it’s important to remember everything they have done for our country.”

Fiandt said they will also have a display of what life was like for men in the trenches during World War I.

“It’s going to have some artifacts from WWI. It’s going to have a fully outfitted solider with all the gear, uniform, all the gear on him,” she said. “And it will have some stories of local men.”

The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thurs., April 13, at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior.
