Supporters of Eau Claire’s proposed Confluence Performing Arts Center are praising Governor Walker for allocating $15 million in his next budget for the project.
The governor announced his plan to earmark the money Wednesday, but the money won’t be released until supporters can find a match and fully fund construction. Eau Claire Regional Arts Council Director Ben Richgruber said that won’t be a problem.
“The goal is $13 million and we are over halfway there, so we’re excited about that and we’ve heard from quite a few donors, they wondered what was going to be the state role,” Richgruber said. “So, now that the announcement has been made that the state is going to participate we expect fundraising efforts to only be strengthened.”
