Water Sustainability Initiative To Open Milwaukee Office

White House Initiative Aims To Strengthen Water Supplies

By

A White House summit Tuesday on water may lead to benefits for Wisconsin.

President Barack Obama has announced commitments from more than 150 organizations to improve sustainable supplies of water. A non-profit network of 9,000 water professionals called the International Water Association will set up its first North American regional office in Milwaukee.

Dean Amhaus of technology advocacy group the Water Council said it’ll be easier for good local ideas to go global.

“We’ll be able to help our businesses and academic programs to extend their reach across the entire world,” he said.

Amhaus said the new partnership also aims to attract more than 75 water-focused entrepreneurs and small businesses to Milwaukee over the next five years. Amhaus attended the White House Summit.
