GOP Presidential Candidates Setting Up Campaign Bases In Wisconsin

All three Republican presidential candidates opened offices in Wisconsin this week ahead of the April 5 primary.

Donald Trump’s backers streamed into a newly opened campaign office in the Milwaukee suburb of Menomonee Falls Tuesday night. They came out with yard signs, T-shirts and enthusiasm for their presidential candidate.

Trump is leading the GOP field, and supporter Richard Staggs said it’s easy to see why. The Milwaukee area teamster said the New York businessman would help create jobs for U.S. citizens.

“I have friends that are in the union for drywalling and electrical, and some of the people are illegals that are working there,” Staggs said.

Alison Loebel of New Berlin said she’ll campaign door-to-door for Trump, because she agrees with his positions on everything from guns to jobs.

“I just believe he can make a change, make America great again. I believe in concealed carry, so we can protect ourselves, especially as women,” Loebel said.

Waukesha resident Jamie Evans said he’ll vote for the Republican frontrunner because Trump promises to shake up Washington.

“Anytime someone challenges the status quo, there’s going to be issues, always,” he said. “This man’s challenging the status quo. He’s a realist and he’s telling Americans the actual problems are going on this country and what we need to do about them.”

Evans said he believes Trump would renegotiate trade deals so fewer jobs would be lost to other countries.

Trump’s campaign has also opened an office in Appleton.
