Dangerously Cold Temps Continue Into Tonight

By

Dangerously cold conditions continue throughout the state today and tonight. The National Weather Service says wind chills across the state ranged from four below zero to 20 below zero this afternoon, as an arctic airmass hovers across the region.

Tom Helman is a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Green Bay. He says conditions are improving, even if it doesn’t quite feel like it.

“The worst of the cold air is passing through, or has passed through about 24 hours ago. But we’ll still be below seasonal normals this week even with a clipper type system that could generate some snow for us Thursday night into Friday.”

Helman says it would have been even colder, if there had been more snow on the ground. A wind chill advisory is in effect for Northeast and Central Wisconsin until 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
