Gary Andersen announced on Wednesday that he has stepped down as head coach of the University of Wisconsin Badgers football team to become the head coach of Oregon State.

The Portland Tribune broke the news late on Wednesday afternoon.

Andersen joined the Badgers in 2012 and coached the team for two seasons, both of which yielded winning records. The 2013 season, however, ended on a sour note, with the team losing to South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl. The team also ended its 2014 regular season in a disappointing fashion, getting shut out by Ohio State University in the Big Ten championship game.
