Wisconsin Voter ID Laws Come Into The Spotlight After Reports Of Inadequate Public Outreach
Voter ID laws have been a point of heated debate — advocates say the new identification rules prevent voter fraud, while critics say the new laws disenfranchise eligible voters, especially minority groups. Wisconsin’s voter ID laws have come into the spotlight again after being criticized by Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders in Appleton yesterday and following a new ProPublica report that said Wisconsin hasn’t done enough outreach to inform voters on the required forms of identification, which could lead to eligible voters being turned away at the polls or not showing up at all. Our guest tells us more about voter ID laws across the country and how Wisconsin’s laws could impact voters.
