Parts of western Dane County got 13 inches of rain Monday and Tuesday, breaking a long-standing record for most rainfall in a 24-hour period. We get an update on the clean-up efforts. We also hear about two Milwaukee programs that bring together the power of young people and the skills of gardening to teach leadership, responsibility and other life lessons. Plus, we discuss why we’re seeing a decline in participation in many areas of youth sports.

Why Participation In Youth Sports Is Declining
We’re about one month away from school being back in session here in Wisconsin. For many kids, that means fall sports are right around the corner. Some athletes may even be practicing already, and some might even be playing in summer leagues…but fewer kids are even getting in the game at all, according to data from the Aspen Institute. We look at why participation in youth sports, including soccer, is down, and what some people and leagues are trying to do about it.
