Gov. Scott Walker is now floating the idea of limiting legal immigration in the U.S., a dramatic reversal of his position from just two years ago.
Walker’s comments to conservative talk-radio host Glen Beck this week went far beyond cracking down on immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally.
“The next president and the next Congress need to make decisions about a legal immigration system that’s based on, first and foremost, protecting American workers and American wages,” Walker said in the interview.

The governor said he had spoken about the issue with U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, who’s a vocal advocate for limiting legal immigration.
Walker’s statement marked a huge flip from what he told the Wausau Daily Herald in 2013.
“People want to come here and work hard in America,” Walker said. “I don’t care whether they come from Mexico or Canada or Ireland or South Africa or Germany, I want them here.”
At the time, Walker even supported a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, although he has since said that he has changed his mind on that issue.
