Gov. Scott Walker has appointed a new secretary to oversee the state Department of Health Services.
Walker chose Linda Seemeyer to lead the department and replace former Secretary Kitty Rhoades, who passed away in June.
Most recently, Seemeyer worked as director of the Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services. She has also served as the director of the Milwaukee County Department of Administrative Services and as the deputy secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Administration under Gov. Tommy Thompson.

In a statement, Walker said he chose Seemeyer because of her experience working in health and human services at the county level, as well as her career in management.
Seemeyer will begin work at the department later this month.
