About the StudioLink Directory

This Directory was formerly called the “ISDN Directory for Public Radio” when it was created in 1993 by Allen Rieland, then Director of Engineering for Wisconsin Public Radio. He had just installed WPR’s first “Switched 56” terminal but found that there was no directory of other “Switched Digital” sites available. With the help of other users like National Public Radio and the CBC, he created one. Many years later, “Switched 56” is long gone and ISDN lines are getting scarce, but IP Codecs are becoming more common. In 2019 the ISDN site was migrated to a new server and renamed “StudioLink.”

This directory lists radio stations, audio production companies and related facilities that have switched-digital and IP-connected audio equipment in order to allow the sending and receiving of high quality audio for interviews, program transfers or remote productions. It is free – courtesy of Wisconsin Public Radio.
