State assembly approves state budget after rigorous debate

Republicans in the State Assembly approved a state budget last night that would wipe out Wisconsin’s structural deficit, but make historically deep cuts to public schools and local governments to get there.GOP lawmakers said it represented a promise kept to the voters who elected them in 2010.But Democrats said the plan was a departure from Wisconsin values that favored the wealthy over the middle class.Shawn Johnson reports.
