Snowfall For Month Of November Was Much Higher Than Average

Temperatures Were Also Colder Than Normal, According To National Weather Service

Wisconsin is seeing higher-than-average snowfalls compared to last year at this time.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Dean Melde snowfall for the month in November in northwestern Wisconsin was much higher than average. Melde said the Hayward area receives about 8 inches on average. This year, the city had almost three times that, with 21.4 inches.

Closer to Lake Superior, Gurney saw 13.3 inches last November. This year, 64.9 inches of snow fell last month.

“We just had unusually cold temperatures much earlier than normal that lasted longer,” said Gurney.

Melde said southern Wisconsin also had above-average snowfall in places like Milwaukee and Madison. He said Madison received about 8 inches last month. The city usually averages a little less than half that during the month of November.
