On “The West Side” host Clara Neupert talks about fall’s wild rice harvest in Wisconsin.
This grain, found mainly in the northern part of the Midwest, nourishes both people and wildlife. Like many Wisconsin crops, its future is challenged by climate change.
Peter David, a biologist with the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission, and Westland Habitat Specialist Jason Fleener at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will join Neupert to tell stories from this fall’s wild rice harvest and share plans for continued conservation efforts.
“The West Side” also features an update about COVID-19 in western Wisconsin. Guest Lieske Giese, director of the Eau Claire City-County Health Department, responds to questions about the Delta variant, booster shots and keeping students safe at schools.
