COVID-19 vaccine availability in western Wisconsin and a look ahead to the impact of the pandemic on tourism are the topics of this week’s edition of “The West Side."
Host Dean Kallenbach welcomes Lieske Giese, director of the Eau Claire City-County Health Department, to the program. She provides updates on the COVID-19 pandemic in the Chippewa Valley and the new Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) vaccination clinic set to open April 8 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Zorn Arena.
Kallenbach also brings on Benny Anderson, executive director of Visit Eau Claire, and Michelle Martin, director of Washburn County’s Tourism Department. They talk about how the pandemic has impacted the tourism industry over the past year and what businesses are doing to salvage the spring and summer seasons.
