Excited Delirium is a condition that has been used in cases of many officer-related deaths, including the death of Adam Trammell of Milwaukee in April. We find out more about what that is and what it might mean that it is a recognized condition by the police force, but not the American Medical Association. We also hear about the inventor of the Polaroid camera and remember the original “instant photo”, and we take a look at this week’s national news.

Congress is working to pass an immigration bill that will address the separation of families entering the US over the southern border. We talk with a Washington reporter about what could make it to President Trump’s desk. We also look at the US decision to withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council, and a proposal to split California into three different states.

  • How Police, Medical Examiners Use The Term 'Excited Delirium'

“Excited delirium” is a term that’s been used to describe dozens of officer-involved deaths across the country, but some major medical groups object to that, saying its not an observable medical condition. We talk to a WisContext editor who recently took a closer look at the issue.

  • 70 Years Since The Polaroid Camera Was Invented By Edwin Land

In 1948, something revolutionary happened in photography. Edwin Land invented a camera that no longer required its user to take their film to a darkroom for development. Instead, he had invented the instant photo and created the first Polaroid camera. The Polaroid today still holds sentiment and charm, and you can find old and new versions of the camera for purchase. We talk to an optometrist who highlights the significance of Land’s inventions and a Canadian photographer who has created a modern creative project out of old polaroids he’s found and collected.

You can view a few of the polaroids used in the project here.
