Utilities Say Power Line Would Promote Wind Energy. Driftless Area Residents Disagree.

The Cardinal-Hickory Creek transmission line would stretch about 100-125 miles from Middleton, Wisconsin to Dubuque County, Iowa. The utilities behind the project say the infrastructure would support and promote wind energy. But local governments and organizations like the Driftless Area Land Conservancy say the demand for the electricity simply isn’t there have have raised concerns about the potential environmental impact of the power lines. This hour, we talk about what happens when utility companies and the public struggle over the same land.
