Your brain more than likely triggered a response to their pain because watching someone suffer from hurt, can make the saying "I feel your pain" literally true for empathetic people. However, those who are empathetic does not necessarily respond to the pain of everybody equally. We talk with our guest science writer about the findings from her studies of the racial empathy gap and examine the racial imbalances that show people are more compassionate to some races more than others, particularly in the case of receiving medical attaention from medical personnel.
