Host Al Ross visits Eau Claire’s The Joynt to chat with its proprietor this week on “Spectrum West.” Ross will also visit with the director of Eau Claire’s The Master Singers and a spokesperson from Widespot Performing Arts Center in Stockholm.
For the past 50 years The Joynt bar has been a fixture on Water Street near the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus. Owner Bill Nolte recently welcomed Ross to sit and talk about when the bar hosted some of the best jazz, folk and blues artists in America. Nolte, who turned 80, doesn’t appear to be slowing down or taking another path, and the two will discuss the future of the venue.
The Master Singers, like other groups, have seen disruption in their performance schedule due to COVID-19 precautions. Their 29th season will get underway Sunday, Oct. 3 as a virtual performance recorded at the Pablo Center at the Confluence. Artistic Director and Founding Conductor Gary Schwartzoff speaks with Ross about the concert and further plans for the season.
If you are in Stockholm looking for theater, music or spoken word performances go to the Widespot Performing Arts Center. Fred Harding joins the program to share highlights about the center, including details about a musical performance happening on Saturday, Sept. 25 featuring Jack Knife and the Sharps.
