Mike Arturi, founder and executive director of the Universal Music Center in Red Wing, Minn, talks with Ross this week about the programs that take place at the non-profit music school. Arturi, an experienced drummer and member of the band Lovin’ Spoonful, also shares the history, concept and current configuration for the school in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Christian Overland, executive director and CEO of the Wisconsin Historical Society, also joins the show. He supplies updates on the schedules of historic sites throughout the state, talks about the organization’s history and suggest ways that citizens can document their own pandemic experience for posterity.
Correspondent Katharine Thomas shares a conversation she had with Wayne Marek, executive director of the Eau Claire Children’s Theater. The theater group is holding outdoor performances of the musical “Newsies” at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Chippewa Falls instead of inside at its Eau Claire location The Oxford Theater this summer. The performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. July 22 through 24.
Sarah Rykal, sustainability manager at UW-Stout, also visits with Ross to talk about her work on the Menomonie campus. She is involved in environmental and conservation programs, and highlights one in particular: The UW-Sprout Campus Garden Community Supported Agriculture program.
