On April 12 at 10 a.m. Wisconsin Public Radio’s Route 51 features the leaders of central Wisconsin’s groundbreaking rhythm and blues group, Johnny and the MoTones. John Altenburgh is a Mosinee based recording artist, pianist, composer, record producer and record company owner who has appeared on dozens of records. Mitch Viegut is a Wausau based recording artist, guitarist, composer, record producer and record company owner who led the 1980s internationally acclaimed rock band Airkraft. The two musicians have collaborated on five Johnny and the MoTones CDs, including the new release Highway 51, which contains all original material and was recorded at the legendary Warner Brothers Studios in Nashville, TN. Route 51 Host Glen Moberg will ask Altenburgh and Viegut about the experience of producing the new album and the national attention their band is receiving.
