Students and teachers across the nation are expected to walk out of their classrooms Wednesday morning, in what’s seen as an act of protest against congressional inaction on gun control in the wake of a school shooting in Parkland, Florida last month. This had lead to a debate over whether or not schools should be throwing their endorsements behind such a protest. But our guest this hour says teaching students about dissent…and offering them a chance to partake…creates valuable learning opportunities, and help students become civically engaged citizens…thus leading to a stronger democracy.
