Air Date:

Christopher Norfleet, Shereen Siewert, and Tricia Zunker

Year after year, studies show that Wisconsin is the most segregated state in the nation, but how does that translate in central Wisconsin? Host Shereen Siewert welcomes Wausau activist Christopher Norfleet, founder of People for the Power of Love, and Tricia Zunker, Wausau School Board President and Ho-Chunk Associate Tribal Justice, to discuss why segregation is so pervasive in Wisconsin, and what can be done to change it.

Norfleet will share his experiences living as a black man in a largely white community, along with suggestions for new educational programs that could help mitigate the problem for future generations. Zunker will talk about the role of education in ending segregation, and what local school boards can do to help foster understanding and acceptance among students.
