In this hour, we’re talking about the impacts of state budget cuts to higher education in Superior. Lawmakers passed a budget last summer that cuts funding for UW System by $250 million. UW-Superior is now tasked with absorbing another roughly $850,000 in cuts after facing financial challenges over the last several years. Chancellor Renee Wachter has her sights set on growth and sat down with us recently to reflect on the last year. We’ll also hear from UWS Faculty Senate Chair Brent Notbohm about how faculty and staff view changes at the university.
We also look at efforts to study changes in western Lake Superior and promote research on the St. Louis River. We sat down with Erika Washburn, manager of the Lake Superior research reserve on Barker’s Island in Superior.
