Celebrating Central Wisconsin Bluegrass Music

Air Date:
Heard On Route 51

This Thursday, March 30 at 10 am, Wisconsin Public Radio’s Route 51 airs a re-broadcast that celebrates the growing popularity of bluegrass music in our region, with members of three critically acclaimed central Wisconsin bands. Host Glen Moberg moderates a discussion with guitarist Adam Greuel and banjo player Russell Pederson, both members of Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, and mandolinist Bob Weigandt and banjo player Oscar Noetzel of Dig Deep. The program also features an interview with guitarist Art Stevenson, the leader of High Water, who has been playing bluegrass the nation for over 25 years. Listen back to the live Route 51 jam session held in our Wisconsin Public Radio studios in Wausau.

This re-broadcast is in anticipation of Wisconsin Public Radio’s Centennial celebration in Central WI. WPR is taking the program Simply Folk on the road to the historic Rothschild Pavilion June 1 with the Simply Folk Centennial Shindig, featuring homegrown string bands, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades and Dead Horses. More information and tickets to the event are available at wpr.org/100.
