There is no definitive test for migraines. We doctors take a clinical history. We might do a scan, although that won’t add much to the diagnosis but can just rule out other problems. And then we prescribe. We may try various drugs, some of which only work for migraines.

Preheat the broiler. In a nonstick ovenproof skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of the olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the sausage and cook and crumble with a fork until cooked through, about 4 minutes. Remove to a small bowl. Add the bell pepper to the skillet and cook until almost tender, about 6 minutes. Add the scallions and cook until wilted, about 3 minutes. Scrape the sausage back into the pan and season with salt and pepper.

In a medium saucepan, set over medium heat, combine the lentils, water, garlic cloves and peel from 1/2 lemon. Bring to a simmer and cover the pan. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, until the water has evaporated and the lentils are thoroughly cook. (If a very small amount of residual water is in the lentils, that’s ok!) Remove the lemon peel and discard.
