Sandy Prompts Busier Blood Drives

By

The American Red Cross says many Wisconsin residents have already scheduled appointments to donate blood to aid Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts. Tom Mooney is a spokesman for the Western Wisconsin Red Cross. He says the organization is short of blood because of 100 canceled drives on the East Coast, “We’re going to be short about 3,000 to 5,000 units of blood, so what we’re asking for is for people would like to contact www.redcross.org and find out if there is a blood drive in their area, would be to go out and give a pint of blood. Hopefully we can make up those units lost.”

Mooney says several drives are scheduled across the state in the next few days.
