Professor Gary Johnson, Director of the First Nations Center at the University of Wisconsin in Superior, joins Henry Banks in the WPR Northwest studios to talk about the Native American Education Program at UWS. He will also talk about an upcoming scholarship fundraiser called The Gary Johnson Golf event - raising much needed funds for Native American students attending UWS.
Also on the Show, Professor of Graphic Design Terresa Hardaway from the University of Minnesota in Duluth and Shirdell Mattox-Simmons - a Community Health Worker from Community Action Duluth. They join Banks to talk about their project, The Natural Hair Symposium: Celebrating the Beauty of Naptural Hair.

Ramona Mar is a national board member of the Native American Journalists Association. The organization is headquartered in Norman, Oklahoma. Ramona is a Producer at CBS 3 in Duluth, Minnesota. She talks about NAJA and the work this professional organization is doing all over America. She also shares information about an upcoming event called A Night For The Natives.

And, finally: all during the month of June we celebrate Black Music Month. June is the proclaimed Black Music Month in the United States. Enacted on June 7, 1979 by then President Jimmy Carter as fitting celebration of culturally relevant music from the African and African American diaspora.
