A police officer has fatally shot a knife-wielding suspect in Waukesha after authorities say the man charged at the officer.

Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack said officers were looking for a suspect involved in a forgery case early Sunday. Police had been trying to get the man to turn himself in.

An officer found the 55-year-old man walking on a street. Police say the suspect pulled a knife and began threatening the officer. When the suspect charged, the officer was afraid the man would stab him and fired, striking the suspect four times in the chest.
