Vice President Joe Biden made a campaign stop in the Twin Ports today. He’s been stumping for Democrats down ballot ahead of Election Day, including Minnesota U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan.
Biden spoke about struggles facing middle-class Americans. He also addressed women’s issues like equal pay and a lack of affordable child care. The vice president also said students who qualify should have access to affordable higher education. He argues lawmakers have passed budgets that have done little to help the average American.
“And what that budget does, it cuts elementary and secondary education by $2.6 billion. It cuts job training for 4 million people being trained now,” he said. “It cuts Medicare by almost $1 billion. It cuts all of early education and head start by 175,000 folks. And, it cuts taxes for people making over $1 million.”

Biden said it’s time for Americans to take back the country from special interests. He said he has a message for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“We may be ordinary, but, we Americans, we never bend. We never bow. We never give up. We always prevail. We are America,” he said. “There is nothing we cannot do, and I’m so sick and tired … We are America, ladies and gentlemen, and it’s time to take it back from people who want to do something different.”
Biden was in Duluth stumping for incumbent Democrat Congressman Rick Nolan, who faces Republican challenger Stewart Mills on Nov. 8.
At the same time, the National Republican Congressional Committee criticized Nolan for supporting Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. The FBI announced it’s reopening its investigation into Clinton after discovering a new batch of emails in an unrelated case.
