Hear Me Out, January 4, 2019

January 4, 2019 - 10:00am

In the next hour, we’ll talk about Wisconsin lawmakers who are drafting legislation that would change the state constitution. The bills aim to improve public safety and better protect the legal rights of people charged with crimes.

The proposals come from a legislative committee that’s studying potential changes to bail and conditions of release for criminal defendants. We’ll hear from Milwaukee Democrat State Representative Evan Goyke and Bayfield County Sheriff Paul Susienka. The two are both members of the committee working to make the pretrial process more efficient and equitable.

Also, we’ll hear from Adele Yorde with the Duluth Seaway Port Authority about the 2018 shipping season as it draws to a close.

Plus, we’ll take a look back on some of the top news stories and issues for northern Wisconsin last year.
