Hear Me Out, August, 10, 2018

August 10, 2018 - 10:00am

The Survival Coalition of Wisconsin Disability Organizations [2] asked 14 candidates running for Wisconsin Governor about their views on disability-related issues ahead of the August 14th primary election. They asked about them about their views on long-term care programs, Medicaid, employment and more. This week, they published responses from six candidates who took part.

In this hour, we’ll hear from disability rights advocates about what issues are facing people living with disabilities in northern Wisconsin and across the state.

John Nousaine, executive director with North Country Independent Living [3], talks about what he’s seeing in the Twin Ports and Douglas County. Plus, managing attorney Monica Murphy with the organization Disability Rights Wisconsin [4] shares her thoughts on what’s needed to better serve people with disabilities in the state.

Also, author Anthony Bukoski talks about his latest book "Head of the Lakes," [5] which is a compilation of short stories about Superior.
