Michele Good reads from “The Book of Polly” by Kathy Hepinstall. Polly needed a new fence, so she decided to call a truce with her neighbors just long enough to get them to chip in to the cover the costs. Now, the neighbors aren’t too bright, but they’re not stupid, so Polly decided to ply them with a dinner party. As one might expect from a dinner party made up of sworn enemies, the night didn’t go so well. In fact, it went so badly that one neighbor, Mr. Tornello, is dead….killed by the squirrel zapper that Polly had boosted a little too high. It wasn’t technically her fault, the coroner said he died of a heart attack, but the last thing fifteen year old Willow Havens wants in her life right now is a cantankerous, larger than life, murderous old mother. She’s a teenager, she just wants to fit in.
