Hiring Survey Predicts More Positive Job News For Wisconsin In Q3

Employers expect the hiring pace in Wisconsin during the next three months to be a little above the national average, according to the most recent jobs survey by Milwaukee-based temporary services firm Manpower.

The poll shows about one-quarter of employers expect to add workers during the third quarter of this year. Only 4 percent predict layoffs. What the firm calculates as the state’s seasonally adjusted “net employment outlook” is six points ahead of the national forecast.

Manpower’s Chris Layden said that should mean good news for many Wisconsin job seekers.

“What they’re going to find is a fairly healthy labor market in Wisconsin,” Layden said. “Particularly in a number of sectors around construction and in manufacturing, where employers are telling us they don’t have the talent to hire and are consistently looking for ways to bring in talent.”

Even so, the hiring pace in the state is expected to be slightly slower than the third quarter of last year, according to Manpower. Sixty-eight percent of Wisconsin employers surveyed plan no change in staffing levels.
