National Republicans say they will pour more television ads into Wisconsin, in hopes of reversing the polls and helping Mitt Romney defeat President Obama this fall. Democrats say they are not impressed.
Independent polls released last week show the president leading GOP candidate Mitt Romney in Wisconsin by somewhere between a few percentage points and 14 points. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus says he is not giving up on his home state of Wisconsin, and has just approved spending more money on TV commercials here.
Priebus spoke via telephone to 25 GOP volunteer offices around the state as Priebus, Governor Scott Walker and Republican Senator Ron Johnson continue to suggest that President Obama has a Wisconsin problem. Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Mike Tate says the GOP is offering its volunteers false optimism.

Tate says it is clear that President Obama will win Wisconsin. First lady Michelle Obama will campaign Friday in Appleton. GOP vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan will hold a fundraiser in Milwaukee October 6th.
