Fair Oaks Farms Recalls Sausage Patties After Finding Listeria

Wisconsin Company Issues Recall For Products In Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa

A Wisconsin meat company is recalling more than a thousand pounds of sausage patties that may be contaminated with bacteria.

Fair Oaks Farms, located in Pleasant Prairie, has issued a recall for 1,134 pounds of their “Breakfast Best Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties.”

According to a notice from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the products tested positive for listeria monocytogenes, a type of bacteria that can cause illness in pregnant women, older adults and those with a weakened immune system.

There have been no confirmed reports of illness so far. Consumers who purchased a package with a sell-by date of May 15, 2018 should throw away the product or return it to the place of purchase.

The items were shipped to retail locations in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa.

A representative from Fair Oaks Farms could not be reached for comment by deadline.
