Email Thread Among Walker Staff In 2010 Calls Controversy Over Tweet ‘Utter BS’

Another of the recently released e-mails from Scott Walker’s 2010 campaign for governor provides more detail about a racial controversy.

In August 2010, Walker’s campaign spokeswoman retweeted a comment linked to a music video that featured a mostly black crowd dancing to a song titled, “C’mon, Ride it (The Train).” It was in the midst of Walker opposing President Obama’s effort to bring high-speed rail to Wisconsin.

State Democratic Party leader Mike Tate asked whether Walker thought the web video was appropriate. “Does he understand why anyone would find this potentially offensive?” Tate said.

Walker replied: “They absolutely made a mistake. They thought they were posting something that was attached to a blog, and instead it was a video link,” he said. “The minute it was pointed out they immediately took it down, apologized. I take them at their word on that.”

But as the Capital Times is reporting, newly released emails indicate Walker’s aide Kelly Rindfleisch called the fuss unbelievable and campaign manager Keith Gilkes described the controversy as, “complete and utter BS.”
