DHS: 1,916 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases In Wisconsin

The state Department of Health Services (DHS) announced Friday there are 1,916 positive cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin.

According to figures from DHS, 37 people in Wisconsin have died from COVID-19 as of Friday afternoon — not including nine additional deaths in Milwaukee County reported by local officials. According to DHS, 487 people have been hospitalized.

The number of positive test results increased by 186 cases from Thursday to Friday.

There are confirmed cases in 54 Wisconsin counties.

Gov. Tony Evers announced during the media briefing that he’s launching the Resilient Wisconsin initiative, a program that will provide Wisconsinites with resources to help deal with impacts of the pandemic.

“This has caused considerable stress on everyone,” Evers said. “For some it has increased anxiety and has led to depression.”

Wisconsin’s cities are seeing the highest number of positive cases related to COVID-19. As of Friday, DHS reported there were 951 positive test results in Milwaukee County.

Other highly populated counties with a large number of cases include: Dane County with 244 cases and three deaths; Waukesha County with 133 cases and one death; Ozaukee County with 50 cases and three deaths; Fond du Lac County with 30 positive cases and two deaths; and Rock County with 20 cases and one death.

The following counties have no confirmed cases as of Friday afternoon: Burnett, Florence, Forest, Green Lake, Kewaunee, Lafayette, Langlade, Lincoln, Manitowoc, Pierce, Polk, Price, Sawyer, Shawano, Taylor, Vernon, Washburn and Waushara counties.

Across the state, 22,377 people have tested negative for the virus so far. From Thursday to Friday, the number of negative test results increased by 2,060.
